GREEN SHADED AREA represents the final hold-out area in the mountains on Northern Luzon which was
occupied by General Yamashita and 50,000 of his soldiers. They were in these mountains from about July 1st
through to August 15th, 1945. August 15th is the day that General Yamashita finally surrendered along with
50,000 of his troops. The map on the RIGHT is the enlarged view.
